SAKAGWA ACADEMIC BLOCK
This is one of the most busy building in the institution. It houses more than 50 offices and a number of ultramodern lecture halls. Its entrance always seems busy due to the high number of people who use the facilities it offers. It houses the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, etc. Sakagwa most definitely gives the institution its face of operation and social recognition. It is situated next to the Science Complex, near the Sports Ground.
2. MAIN LIBRARY
A very common building in the university. Almost all media adverts must display this enormous knowledge store that houses kilometres of shelves and a cool learning environment. The building also houses the famous Libaset lecture halls that are common for examination and learning common units. It is situated next to the school of law, almost 1km from the main gate via the Administration Block.
3. ADMINISTRATION BLOCK
One can easily tell it by the flags raised on its upper floor. It houses the Vice Chancellor's office, main Finance Office, Reception and Front Office, Customer Care, etc. On the first floor rests four lecture halls and fashion laboratory. It is one of the most common buildings, since it houses the executive.
4. SAGINI HALL
Sagini is a famous hall not only in the university but also in the country. Sagini has been host to hundreds of activities and festivals in this academic year, the most famous being the AntiSponsor Campaign that saw Churchill Show's MCA Tricky attend. It at times act as a lecture hall and examination room when need arises. It is located near the main gate, to the left side after entry at the Main Gate.
5. SPORTS GROUND
The best sports ground in Nyanza. It houses the pavilion which now houses two lecture halls PV1 and PV2. It's fine terrain, excellent water systems and perfect designing gives it its particularity. It is situated next to the Main Gate, to the right side of the main road.

Anyona was born in 1945 in Tombe Village, Kitutu Masaba, Kenya . He attended Tombe Primary School and Sengera Intermediate School before proceeding to the prestigious Alliance High School . From Alliance, he proceeded to Makerere University, Uganda where he studied Political Science , English, Economics and History. Before he ventured into politics in 1974, he worked for British Airways in Nairobi. Rise to politics The same year he ventured into politics, he won the then Kitutu East Parliamentary seat. Anyona's political troubles began in 1977 when he was detained without trial by then President Jomo Kenyatta. He was released a year later by President Daniel arap Moi soon after he assumed power following the death of President Kenyatta. Anyona would again land in trouble in 1982, this time with his longtime friend and veteran politician Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
