Robson-Kanu ensures historic day for Wales ends in glory
It was a day the Welsh public have been waiting for for more than half a century and it didn’t disappoint.
Wales’ first match in a major championships since 1958 was an enthralling, end-to-end contest and most importantly for the fans, it ended in glory.
Gareth Bale’s free-kick in the first-half gave Chris Coleman’s men a lead they deserved and enhanced the Real Madrid’s reputation as his country’s talisman.
Slovakia responded and Duda’s equaliser in the second half was also deserved after their response but Wales kicked on again and in the end Robson-Kanu’s goal in the 81st minute decided the contest.
The players delivered when it mattered most and they were cheered all the way by their passionate fans.
It was a proud day for Wales and they will be hoping for a repeat when they face their neighbours on Thursday.
